In Ableton Live, you can only have one Live Set open at any given time. So what if you want to merge two or more Live Sets or use parts of one in another Set? This can be necessary if you have different versions of a song/track you want to combine or when creating a. Once again, Ableton Live makes this simple by offering an ‘Add folder’ option in the ‘Places’ section of the browser. Simply navigate to your samples location and add the folder. You can add and organize them however you like – all in one folder or using multiple folders. Open Multiple FL20 Projects at once on Mac OS Forum. Arm multiple tracks in the arrange window by holding down the apple(mac)/control(pc) key. Click on the main record button at the top middle of your screen. It is a good idea to arm the metronome so the song you are recording matched the master tempo. Click the play button and you should get a 1 or 2 bar count in then you’re off and recording! Go to your desktop with Godot closed then click the Godot icon then while leaving Godot open click the icon a second time. Then there should be two Godots open at once. How to open two ableton projects at once
  • For those who are going to experiment with the ctrlrs here are my expierences with support from interfaces.
For all the devices the newest drivers are installed.

    Windows XP/ Ableton 8.1

Midiman midisport 2X2: supports multiclient (selecting the midi out in ableton preferences as in the plugin)

RME Fireface midi: does not support multiclient. (selecting the CTRLR midi out will cause an error openDevice hardware failed if it is also selcted in ableton midi preferences))

Motu Midi Express 128 USB: does not support multiclient. (selecting the CTRLR midi out will cause an error openDevice hardware failed if it is also selcted in ableton midi preferences))

    OSX 1.5.4 / Ableton 8.1

Midiman midisport 2X2: supports multiclient (selecting the midi out in ableton preferences as in the plugin)
It is buggy though because sometimes you have to reselect the midi out in the CTRLR to be functional

RME Fireface midi: supports multiclient (selecting the midi out in ableton preferences as in the plugin)
    No buggy behaviour

Motu Midi Express 128 USB: supports multiclient (selecting the midi out in ableton preferences as in the plugin)
    No buggy behaviour

So OSX drivers definately have better performance than Windows drivers. One issue left for OSX which doesn’t occur under windows:
When deleting a ctrlr from a project it will cause ableton to crash.
When opening a new project while you’re working on a project which contains a ctrlr is causes ablton to crash.
When closing a project which has a ctrlr or when quit abeton while working with a ctrlr project it alse cause ableton to crash.
It definately has something to do with closing the VST device which clauses the crashes.
It would be great if this can be resolved as it makes it totally bug free. As Roman mentioned in the other forum it is an Juce related issue. So maybe Jules can have a look at this?

The OSX issue will be fixed i’m not going to leave this like that, i just need to get my hands on some btter OSX capabale hardware (should be tomorrow). Cause this error is somewhere deep in Ableton code, i was debugging it and it looks like my code works OK however ableton’s code crashes. But like i said i need to do a lot more debugging to be 100% sure.

I posted this bug on JUCE’s forum: http://www.rawmaterialsoftware.com/view … f=8&t=5247 this is not a bug in my code i’m 99.9% sure about this, aby plugin built with current juce tip causes this crash in Ableton. The author of JUCE knows i didn’t get any replies yet. I guess it might be a good idea to tell Ableton about this at some point.

yes it is, but i never had any touch with AU, i’ll have to look into this, i don’t know how MIDI is handled in AU and it’s only MAC something i want to avoid, i chose VST cause it’s 3 platform and it’s pretty solid implementation in every DAW.

well it looks like it’s not fixable, once i get my hands on some well working mac i’ll try to build AU versions i wanted RTAS too but Digidesign didn’t want to give their SDK, i guess they don’t like opensource projects.

I tried them all, iPC iDeneb iAtkos Leo4All right now iPortable, on my own VAIO i can’t get the graphics to work, my Fujitsu Lifebook doesn’t even boot the right way and the NVidia card goes blank i’m downloading all the osx86 distros will try them all maybe one will work.

nah i have all of them, i’ve been a hackintosh user since it first came out.

i have two laptops, one i can’t event install, the other has ATI graphics and i can’t get that to work. but i haven’t gave up yet. I have all the distros one work better one don’t work at all, it’s a matter of time.i have a working hackintosh at work so at least i can do builds, i tried the AU build today but there is a problem with JUCE again, once that’s fixed i’ll let you know.

[quote:38hjlxpo]So OSX drivers definately have better performance than Windows drivers.[/quote:38hjlxpo]In Windows: Whenever any midi port opening problems occur, you can simply reroute your midi signals via MIDI-OX and use those via Midi-Yoke.

EDIROL UA25 doesent seem to support multiclient (im sad)

I’m resurrecting an old thread here, but it inspired me to dig my old Midisport 2×2 out of the attic and test its multiclient efficacy between Ableton Live 8.1, Renoise 2.7b, MIDI OX (simpy as another MIDI client for testing, not for routing) and Ctrlr (v4 and v5) under Windows 7 32bit.

Ableton Live, Renoise and/or MIDI OX can share the same output on the Midisport with no trouble – regardless of whether Renoise is set to use WDM or MME – but for some reason, Ctrlr won’t share with anything else. I’ve always accepted this with my Edirol UA-101’s MIDI device, as I knew it wasn’t specced to be multiclient; the Midisport [i:ivmdr1pv]is[/i:ivmdr1pv], and even lives up to the manufacturer’s promise. So is there still a problem with JUCE or Ctrlr that could be investigated with the hope of achieving true compatibility with multiclient drivers? This would make my life a hell of a lot easier, and it would also probably cut down on about 50% of queries/complaints from new Ctrlr users who can’t figure out why it doesn’t work even though they believe (erroneously) that they’ve set up all their MIDI devices ” title=”Smile” />

    Whaddya think, atom?

Well i can post it on the JUCE forum, maybe Jules can do something about it, but that’s really all i can do.
